There’s a photo of my grandparents on their wedding day sitting on my mum’s mantelpiece. It’s beautiful - they’re both grinning, dad holding her hand like he might lose her. But I never heard their voices in that moment. I never heard the room laugh at the best man’s speech. I never heard them say their vows.

That’s what I think about when couples ask me why they should invest in a wedding film alongside their photography. Photos freeze a single second. Video carries everything else - the trembling in your partner’s voice when they say “I do,” the sound of the room going quiet right before the first dance, your dad’s face when he sees you walk in. Those sounds and movements disappear the moment the day ends. A film holds onto them.

Most couples tell me the same thing when they watch their wedding film back for the first time: they cry. Not because they’re sad, obviously - because they’re hearing voices and seeing faces they couldn’t take in properly on the day itself. You’re so busy saying hello to everyone, making sure your gran has a seat, checking the flowers arrived - you miss the exact moments you most wanted to catch.

I’ve had couples message me years after their wedding to say they’ve watched their film dozens of times. On anniversaries. On difficult weeks when they want reminding of something good. One couple told me they sat down with their daughter on her birthday and watched their wedding film together - she was the bump they didn’t know about yet. Those moments are why I do this job.

Video records things photography can’t. Your vows, in full. The whole of your first dance, with the music you chose. Your best friend’s speech - the funny bits, the teary bits, the bits that leave half the room needing a tissue. Your parents’ faces. The way your flower girl suddenly broke into a run halfway down the aisle. A photograph captures a moment; a film captures the whole day breathing.

I spend a lot of time in the edit choosing music that fits the couple specifically, not music that sounds generically nice on a wedding film. The right song changes everything. It ties the footage together and adds an emotional layer that takes the whole film somewhere else. That’s the part of the process I love most - finding the track that makes it feel utterly yours.

I’m based in Gloucestershire, which puts me right in the heart of some of the most photographed countryside in England - and some of the most beautiful wedding venues anywhere in the UK. Here’s a bit about the areas I cover regularly.

Gloucestershire is home ground for me. From the market towns of Cirencester and Stroud to the rolling hills around Painswick, I know the light here in every season.

Worcestershire sits just north of the Cotswolds and has its own quiet charm. The Malvern Hills make a backdrop that needs no filter, and there are some wonderful barn conversions and country house hotels in the area.

Warwickshire pulls me in regularly, particularly around Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding villages. The county has a mix of Tudor timber buildings and open parkland that works beautifully on camera.

Oxfordshire - especially around Burford, Chipping Norton, and the villages in between - offers that deep-honey stone that looks glorious in late afternoon light. I film here often.

Birmingham and the West Midlands are just over an hour from base, and there’s a growing scene of smart city venues and reinvented industrial spaces that make for genuinely interesting films. Not every wedding wants a country backdrop and I like the variety.

Cheltenham is practically on my doorstep and has some classic Regency venues, particularly around the Promenade and Pittville Park, that suit a certain kind of elegance.

Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford, and Cirencester come up regularly in my bookings. The mix of history, architecture and surrounding landscape in those three towns gives me plenty to work with. I also travel further - Scotland, Cornwall, the Welsh Borders - just ask about travel costs.

I work alone at every wedding. That’s a deliberate decision, not a cost-cutting measure. When you book a larger videography company, you often don’t know who will actually show up on the day. You may have spoken to the owner during the enquiry but never met the person who ends up filming your ceremony. I think that matters.

Working solo also means I move quietly. I don’t need to coordinate with a crew. I don’t need two sets of equipment cases in the corner of the room. I’ve had guests at weddings genuinely not realise there was a videographer there - and that’s the point. The less you notice me, the more natural the footage is. And the more natural the footage, the more the final film looks like your actual wedding rather than a production.
